Elon Musk Confirms SpaceX Micro Satellite Plans

Hawthorne-based SpaceX, the commercial rocket company run by Elon Musk, is indeed working on developing a constellation of micro-satellites to deliver Internet access across the world. According to Elon Musk, in a tweet, SpaceX is still in the "early stages" of developing advanced micro-satellites operating in large formations. Musk said there will be an announcement about the effort in 2 to 3 months. There has been a recent trend in the space market to launching microsatellites--such as those using the CubeSat and NanoSat standards--to reduce delivery costs to space and to standardize payload handling.
