Instacanvas Launches Online Instagram Art Marketplace

Los Angeles-based Instacanvas, the service which combines the popular photo sharing service Instagram with the ability to buy real, physical canvas art pieces, said today that it has launched its service broadly to the public. The firm--one of the companies unveiled in the last month from the Muckerlab business accelerator--allows Instagram users to offer up their artwork for sale to others, who are able to buy their art and photos as stretched canvas online. According to Matt Munson, the founder and CEO of Instacanvas, the idea is to create a marketplace where buyers and sellers can acquire original artwork. The firm said it already has 25,000 galleries representing photographers from 30 countries around the world, and is seeing more than 1.1 million monthly uniques to the site exiting its private beta.
