Novatel Wireless Adds Retired General to Board

San Diego-based Novatel Wireless reported Wednesday that it has appointed retired U.S. Army Gen. John D. Wakelin to its board of directors, effective Monday. The wireless broadband technology firm described Wakelin as an experienced professional who spent the past 20 years in senior executive and business development roles for Science Applications International Corp. At SAIC, Novatel said, Wakelin oversaw various programs in large-scale computing, telecommunications systems and complex enterprise software systems for the public and private sectors. Novatel noted that Wakelin retired as a brigadier general after a 30-year career that culminated as deputy director for Command Control and Communications for the Joint Chiefs of Staff under two U.S. presidents.
