SafeRide Health Links Into Lyft

Santa Monica-based SafeRide Health, a startup which is focused on transporting patients to health care providers, has linked up with Lyft in a new partnership, the company said on Thursday. SafeRide--which is venture backed by Amplify.LA--helps reduce medical appoint "no-shows" by providing transportation to patients to their medical appointments. The company pointed out that a $40 Lyft ride can help avoid deterioration in a patient's condition which would end up costing $20,000 in an end-stage renal failure visit to the emergency room. The company cited numbers from the Journal of Community Health, which found that 25 percent of low-income patient appointments are missed or rescheduled due to a lack of transportation. SafeRide is led by CEO Robbins Schrader.
