Sonos Plugs Into Rhapsody

Santa Barbara-based Sonos has scored a major win with RealNetworks, saying Thursday that the company has collaborated with RealNetworks to connect the firm's Rhapsody web services directly to Sonos digital music players. Sonos, which develops user-friendly multi room digital music players, said that its systems now include plug-and-play support for RealNetworks' Rhapsody online music service. The new service does not require a computer, and is available on the Sonos 2.0 products. Rob Glaser, chairman and CEO of RealNetworks, said that "Our collaboration with Sonos is a key step in our efforts to empower consumers to enjoy their own personal music experience anywhere, anytime, and from any device." Sonos is backed by BV Capital.
