SpaceX Dragon Hatch Opens Ahead Of Schedule

The first commercial resupply mission to the International Space Station jumped ahead of schedule Wednesday afternoon, after the hatch to the SpaceX Dragon cargo craft was opened a day ahead of schedule, after successful docking with the ISS earlier in the morning. NASA said that the crew of the ISS opened up the hatch to the SpaceX Dragon at 1:40 p.m. EDT, after they were able to speed through post-berthing procedures. The hatch had been expected to be opened sometime today. Among the cargo being offloaded by the crew of the ISS: chocolate-vanilla swirl ice cream stashed in a freezer being installed on the ISS for storing scientific experiments. SpaceX is based in Hawthorne, and is headed by technology mogul Elon Musk.
