Two Local Firms Make WSJ Clean Technology List

The Wall Street Journal, at a conference in Santa Barbara this week, named its list of "Top 10" clean technology firms, naming two local companies to the list of firms with the "greatest potential to succeed." According to the WSJ, Burbank-based eSolar, the solar thermal power firm spun out of Idealab, and San Diego-based renewable algae fuels firm Sapphire Energy were among the top companies. eSolar was ranked third, and Sapphire Energy ranked number 10 on the list, which was based on amount of capital raised, track records of founders and investors, and percentage change in valuation. The WSJ held its ECO:nomics Executive Conference in Santa Barbara this week.
