Newport Beach-based Acacia Research, the patent licensing outfit which acquires and aggressively licenses patents, is eyeing the digital imaging market, saying this morning that one of its subsidiaries has acquired a number of patents originally issued to Polaroid. The firm said those patents cover digital imaging and related technologies, used in digital cameras and camera phones. Details on the number of patents, specific patents involved, or financial terms were not announced.
