    Aeroviroment Gets $4.6M DARPA Grant

Monrovia, California-based Aerovironment said today that it has received $4.6M in funding from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), for the development of a small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS). According to Aerovironment, the new DARPA project will be based on the firm's Wasp UAS, which is a one-pound, battery-powered vehicle the firm has been supplying to the U.S> Air Force and U.S. Marine Corp. Aerovironment said the new project will focus on enabling what are called "however/perch and stare" surveillance missions.
