San Diego-based instant messaging startup Akonix said this morning that it has added a new VP of marketing. The firm has hired Don Montgomery as VP of marketing for the firm. Previous chief marketing officer Francis Costello has been appointed to chief technology officer. Montgomery previously served at Unisys Corporation as director of marketing, and has also served at United Messaging. Akonix develops an appliance that allows corporations to manage their instant messaging traffic.
