Another Bay Area Startup Launches Cleaning Service In SoCal
Southern California is once again the target expansion market for a Bay Area startup offering cleaning services via the web this morning, as EXEC said it is expanding beyond the San Francisco Bay Area, and launching its cleaning service in San Diego. EXEC is one of a number of startups looking to automate the process of booking a house cleaner or maid, through an easy, online interface. The launch of EXEC into Southern California follows only a few weeks after another, Bay Area startup--Pathjoy, made its own entry into this market, extending into Los Angeles.
EXEC is led by Justin Kan, best known for Justin.TV, and lets people get quotes for house cleaning through a simple online form. EXEC lets users input their ZIP code, specify how many bedrooms and bathrooms they want cleaned, get a price for cleaning, and then schedule a cleaning. The service parallels, almost exactly, the steps at Pathjoy. Both companies are part of a wave of marketplace-oriented services (Uber and Airbnb in the Bay Area, DogVacay, EventUp, TakeLessons, Ninjathat, and others in Southern California) which are using the web and mobile to connect people with services, often supplied by other users.
