Irvine-based Autobytel and Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com said late Monday that the two have entered into a settlement over a patent lawsuit filed by Edmunds against Autobytel. According to the two firms, the two have entered into a settlement to avoid "any further proceedings" on the patent lawsuit, after the case was recently dismissed by a court. The two firms said that Autobytel has granted Edmunds a limited license to Autobytel's U.S. Patent, Number 6,282,517 and other Autobytel patents, in exchange for the right to publish a selected assortment of Edmunds.com's content on its family of websites, including photos, editorial reviews, and articles.
