Bourns Buys Business From Murata

Riverside, California-based electronics components manufacturer Bourns has acquired the trimming potentiometer business of Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd., the two said Friday. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Bourns said it acquired specific assets of that business, with transfer of those assets to begin in early 2016. Bourns is already a major manufacturer of trimming potentiometers, which are used on circuit boards for adjusting resistance in circuits; the company is the manufacturer of the distinctive blue "Trimpot" brand of potentiometers, found on a wide range of electronic equipment. Bourns said that Murata's trimming potentiometer business will be particularly helpful in Asia.
