Broadcom Adds Support For Chinese Location Satellite System

Irvine-based chip maker Broadcom announced a new chip this morning, which supports the new, Chinese BeiDou satellite location system. According to Broadcom it snew BCM47531 Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) chip supports GPS, GLONASS, QZSS, SBAS and BeiDou all simultaneously. All of those satellite systems are used for determining a user's location. Broadcom said the addition of BeiDou will help improve its navigation accuracy, particularly in urban settings. China's new location satellite system works only in Asia, and is still in early deployment.
