Broadcom, Boingo Wireless Team on WiFi Software

Irvine-based Broadcom and Santa Monica-based Boingo Wireless announced today that the two are in a strategic relationship to incorporate Boingo's software into Broadcom's WiFi phone chipsets. Financial terms of the deal were not disclose. The companies said that Broadcom will include Boingo's WiFi client software as part of its BCM1161 and BCM4318E, Wi-Fi phone chipset platform. Boingo's software is used to automatically connect users into its network of Wi-Fi providers. Broadcom's chipset is used to enable the connection of cell phones to WiFi networks.
