Irvine-based semiconductor firm Broadcom announced today that the firm has upgraded its support of the Bluetooth wireless chip to the latest version of Bluetooth, version 4.0, across its entire portfolio. According to Broadcom, the new support comes across its core BTE Bluetooth stack and Bluetooth systems-on-a-chip (SOC) products. The firm said the support is a result of the Bluetooth Special Interest group formally adopting the new specifications, which supports better multi-vendor interoperability, enhanced range, a low-energy specification, and other features.
