Irvine-based Broadcom has announced a new, single-chip Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and FM receiver, the firm said today. The new chip is focused on providing wireless connectivity for mobile devices. Broadcom said that the new BCM4325 CMOS system-on-a-chip provides 802.11 a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 support plus enhanced data rate, and a FM receiver. The firm is targeting the device for use in mobile handsets, media players, and handheld wireless systems. According to Broadcom, the new device is now sampling to early access customers.
