deCODE, Illumina In DNA Alliance

deCODE Genetics and San Diego-based Illumina have entered into a strategic alliance, said today that the two companies will work together to commercialize DNA-based diagnostics. The two companies said that they will initiate work on molecular diagnostics for heart attack, type 2 diabetes, and other conditions. The two firms will use Illumina's upcoming SNP genotyping platform and deCode's population genetics resources to develop diagnostics for various genetic disorders.
