Santa Monica-based Demand Media and the Lance Armstrong Foundation said today that they have launched LIVESTRONG.COM, an online web site focused on helping people to change their lives. According to the firms, the new site will offer online tools and content to help individuals in the areas of health, fitness, and lifestyle. The new site is launching with over 15,000 professional articles and videos, food profiles, and a collection of health question-and-answers. Demand Media operates a network of content web sites in the area of social media, and is headed by former Intermix CEO and MySpace Chairman Richard Rosenblatt. Demand Media and the Lance Armstrong Foundation signed an agreement in January for Demand Media to create the site; that deal also made Armstrong a strategic advisor to Demand Media. LIVESTRONG.COM's advisory board is chaired by Armsrong, and also includes Dr. Sanjay Gupta (chief medical correspondent at CNN), Dr. Timothy S. Harlan (Dr. Gourmet), Dr. Micheal A. Clark (president and CEO of National Academy of Sports Medicine), and Andy Miller (The Lance Armstrong Foundation).
