DoubleBeam Buys GoPago
Pasadena-based payment services provider DoubleBeam said Friday that it has acquired GoPago, a provider of e-commerce solutions for merchants and mobile payment products. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. DoubleBeam said that the deal will help it deliver a turnkey mobile commerce platform that includes an integrated POS system. The deal comes after incorrect rumors that GoPago was being acquired by Amazon.
DoubleBeam CEO Ted Tekippe told socalTECH that it acquired GoPago because there was a lot of synergy between what GoPago had built and its own solutions, including offering low cost e-check payment solutions in a mPOS, enabling customers to link their payments straight from their phone to their bank account, process images and checks from the POS, and more. GoPago's Android-based systems had been aimed at the small to medium sized business market, and compares very well price-wise with legacy POS systems, according to Tekippe.
