DTS Hits 20 Years

In the world of technology, the lifespan of companies is usually measured in years (if not months). Among those local firms to cross over into multiple decades today is Calabasas-based DTS, which said today that it just hit 20 years since being founded in 1993. DTS provides audio enhancement technology, which is widely used in encoding soundtracks for movies. DTS has most recently been working on its DTS Headphone:X technology, which brings the company's multi-dimensional, surround sound to headsets, via movies, computer games, and mobile phones and tablets. The company is also expanding out distribution of the technology it acquired last year when it acquired Phorus, the maker of whole-home, wireless streaming technology created by audio vet Dannie Lau. DTS has launched a number of promotions around its anniversary today, plus also managed to get today declared "DTS 7.1 Day" by the State of California.
