eHarmony: More Than 542 People Married Every Day Through Site

Pasadena-based eHarmony, the online dating site, said today that it has run a study which determined that on average, there are 542 people married every day in the U.S. due to the web site. The firm said it it studeied marriages between January 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009, and concluded 542 people were married every day in the United States due to the site's efforts. The study was conducted by Harris Interactive for eHarmony. eHarmony said that for the study period, there were more than 148,311 marriages due to the site's effort, or approximately 4.77 percent of all new marriages in the country. The study was released on the launch of eHarmony's 10th anniversary ad campaign, which the firm says it will begin airing today. The firm's new ad campaign was directed by documentary maker Errol Morris. eHarmony said the study by Harris Interactive was conducted in July and August 2009 among 7,994 respondents aged 20-54 who were married between January 1, 2008 and June 30, 2009.
