Edmunds.com Opens Auto Pricing, Specs API

Looking to tap into the developer community, Santa Monica-based car information site Edmunds.com said today that it has opened up a new application programming interface (API), which will allow software developers to access its full database of new car and used car specification and pricing. Edmunds said the new API will help developers to design and enhance their own, online car shopping applications. Edmunds is working with API management firm Mashery.com on the effort. Edmunds said it has also opened up a dedicated developer site to support the API, which includes documentation, examples, widgets and apps, and a community forum. Edmunds is initially limiting the API to 2 queries per second, or 5000 queries per month.
