Two suppliers for the vehicle market, UQM Technologies and BorgWarner, announced today that they have teamed up to develop electric powertrains for Santa Monica-based CODA Automotive's upcoming, electric five-passenger sedan. UQM--based out of Colorado--and BorgWarner--based in Michigan--said they will integrate UQM's electric propulsion systems with transmissions from BorgWarner, as part of an effort to supply CODA. CODA said it will be shipping its sedan in mid-2010 here in the California market. BorgWarner develops vehicle powertrains for companies such as VW/Audi, Ford, Toyota, Nissam, GM, and others; UQM develops electric motors and generators for the automotive, aerospace, military and industrial markets. CODA is venture backed by the Angeleno Group; Henry M. Paulson, the former U.S. Secretary of the Treasury; and others.
