Fallbrook Technologies Buys Hodyon

San Diego-based Fallbrook Technologies, a developer of transmission technology being used for the electrical vehicles and other industries, announced this morning that it has acquired Hodyon LP, a manufacturer of auxiliary power units for the heavy truck industry. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Fallbrook said that Hodyon will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the firm, and incorporate Fallbrook's continuously variable planetary transmission technology into its own, auxiliary power unit (APU) systems. Hodyon's power units are used on heavy trucks to provide power for heating, air conditioning, lighting, and electronic systems when diesel engines are turned off. Fallbrook is venture backed by Macquarie Capital Markets, NGEN Partners, and Robeco, and has raised around $95M in funding.
