FindTheCompany, a new business research site started by DoubleClick co-founder Kevin O'Connor, launched out of beta today, saying that it has created an online resource to let users check on the reputation of a business before buying products and services, and to learn more about companies such as balance sheets, income statements, and more. The new service is a sister site to Santa Barbara-based FindTheBest, the online product research site also started by O'Connor.
FindTheCompany's service takes the highly visual, easy-to-navitage interface developed by FindTheBest, and applies that to common business profile information--addresses, balance sheet, corporate information--mined from public sources, particularly for large, public companies. The service also links back to information on FindTheBest about products from those companies, as well as other resources. FindTheCompany said it is tapping Xignite for the financial data on the site, and has "millions" of data points of different businesses. The new site takes on such incumbent business data providers as Hoovers.
