FreedomPop Brings Free Voice, Text, Data To iPhone

Los Angeles-based FreedomPop is expanding its free voice, texting, and data plans to the iPhone this morning, saying that it has added support for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 5 to its smartphone service plan. The company will offer up iPhone 5 devices for sale directly, and will allow existing, iPhone 4 device owners to bring their own devices to the plan. FreedomPop--which has been available on Android devices since late last year--now offers up an iOS app called FreedomPop Free Voice and Text, which allows users access to free voice calls, text, and voicemail. The company is leveraging Sprint's LTE network for its plans, and also sells premium plans with a greater amount of data and text messages that its 200 voice minute, 500 text message, and 500 MB basic free plan. FreedomPop is backed by Mangrove Capital and Atomico.
