Linksys Targets Gamers With New Gaming Router

Playa Vista-based networking equipment maker Linksys--which is part of Belkin--has rolled out a new Ethernet router specifically aimed at the gaming market. According to Linksys, its new WRT32X gaming Router has a new "prioritization engine" which optimizes high speed gaming and provides low latency to videogame traffic. Linksys says its "Killer Prioritization Engine" works with "Killer Networking" hardware found in such gaming and performance PCs from Dell (Alienware/XPS), Gigabyte, MSI, Razer, Acer, Lenovo and other motherboards, and prioritizes traffic from those devices over other network traffic. The company said that prioritization reduces peak ping times by up to 77 percent.
