GoShare Takes On Crowdsourced Package Delivery

San Diego-based GoShare, which operates an online marketplace for truck and van owners to offer up delivery of packages, is looking to help retailers better deliver packages as the holiday season has created a surge of online orders and delivery. According to the company, led by CEO Shaun Savage, it has created a "virtual fleet" providing delivery for businesses on a pay-per-use model. The company says it has a virtual fleet of more than 7,500 "delivery professionals" to provide its services, and uses machine learning and algorithms to predict delivery times and offer up pricing for its services. GoShare says it is operating in 32 major metropolitan areas, and that all of its delivery professionals are licensed, insured and background checked.
