Illumina Names CEO

San Diego-based DNA sequencing equipment giant Illumina says it has named Jacob Thaysen, Ph.D., as its new CEO. Thaysen was previously senior vice president of Agilent Technologies and president of its Life Sciences and Applied Markets Group. Illumina said the Agilient division he was running had revenues of approximately $4 billion. Illumina said that Thaysen will also join the company's board, and will move to San Diego from Northern California to take the position.
