Intuit Courts Third Party Access To TurboTax With Open API

Intuit announced this morning that it is opening up access to third party developers to the consumers using TurboTax Online, which is developed out of San Diego. According to Intuit, it has created an open platform which will allow third party companies to access data from its TurboTax customers. The first partnership out of the open platform effort is Earnest, a company which uses data science to help consumers refinance loans. The two said the relationship will give TurboTax customers with student loans the ability to get a refinance estimate, and also see if they are eligible for certain federal loan repayment programs and benefits. Earnest is venture backed by Maveron, Battery Ventures, Adams Street Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Accomplice Ventures, Wildcat Venture Partners, First Round Capital, and others.
