Ixia Expands Into Virtualization Testing

Calabasas-based Ixia, a provider of network testing tools and systems, has expanded its suite of applications to take on the growing area of data center virtualization. Ixia announced a new product suite, IxVM, targeted at assessing virtual infrastructure performance and capacity. According to Ixia, the new set of products will test both layer 2/3 virtual network resources and layer 4-7 applications, through a specialized version of the firm's IxChariot network testing tool and other associated software. The new software is also integrated with VMware, one of the leading providers of virtualization infrastructure software.
