Carlsbad-based Life Technologies said today that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire BioTrove, a developer of a high throughput gene expression and genotyping analysis system. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed. Life Technologies said the deal is not expected to have a material effect on its financials in fiscal year 2009. BioTrove is based in Woburn, Mass., and was venture backed by Catalyst Health and Technology Partners, CB Health Ventures, Vox Equity, BioFrontier Partners, Echelon Ventures, Excel Venture Management, and Fletcher Spaght, Inc.
