M2 Technology Partners Gets Investment From Accel-KKR, Targets Software Firms

Laguna Hills-based M2 Technology Partners, LLC, a new investment firm focused on the software and services business, said Tuesday that it has launched with sponsorship from technology focused private equity firm Accel-KKR. The new firm is headed by Mark Duffell and Michael Piraino, both formerly of Epicor Software. According to the firm, M2 will focus on middle market enterprise software businesses that are looking for operational expertise or are ready for consolidation. Duffell was most recently president and COO at Epicor; Piraino, was formerly executive vice president and chief financial officer at Epicor, one of the biggest software firms in Orange County. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Duffell and Piraino will also become advisors to Accel-KKR, and will be members of the investment firm's Operating Advisory Committee.
