Newegg Hits Retail With Pop-up Store

City of Industry-based Newegg, the big online electronics retailer, is making its first foray into the physical, retail market, with a new pop-up store. According to Newegg, it will launch a pop-up store from August 16-18th in Thousand Oaks, California, at The Oaks shopping center. The store is the company's first, ever pop-up store. Newegg said the pop-up store will feature products from Intel, Samsung, Sony, WD and other companies. Pop-up stores are the short-term, "instant" stores which have been heavily used by companies during the holiday season and as tests of retail locations over the past few years; those stores allow companies to sell merchandise from a retail location for only a short time, whether a few days or a few months, without committing to a long term lease. Newegg did not say if it has further plans for pop-ups or actual retail locations.
