iPourIt Snags Series A Funding For Bartender-in-a-Box
Can you pour me another one? You'll soon be asking a machine that question--if Newport Beach-based iPourIt gets its way, thanks to technology which the firm has developed to let people get their own refills on beer. The local company announced this week that it has raised $800,000 in funding in a Series A round of funding. Science Inc. Gets $30M From Hearst
Science Inc., the technology startup incubator and studio headed by former MySpace CEO Michael Jones, has raised around $30M in funding from Hearst Ventures, the venture capital arm of Hearst Corporation, Hearst said this morning. Science Inc. and Hearst did not disclose terms of the deal, but AllthingsD said the investment was worth $30M and gave Hearst a twenty percent stake in Science. SpaceX Set For Next Resupply Mission For NASA
NASA said late Thursday that it has set a new date for the next SpaceX resupply mission, and is targeting Friday, March 1st for the resupply flight to the International Space Station. Space Exploration Technologies, the commercial rocket and spaceflight firm based in Hawthorne, and headed by technology mogul Elon Musk, has seen huge success in its goal of developing its rocket and spacecraft technology to deliver supplies--and eventually, people--to space. BAROnova Gets $27.3M For Weight Loss Device
Goleta-based medical device developer BAROnova announced this morning that it has raised a big, $27.3M funding round to fund clinical trails for its weight loss device. The firm said the Series C funding was led by Sante Ventures and Boston Scientific Corporation, and also included ONSET Ventures, Highland Capital Partners and Arboretum Ventures, and Lumira Capital. Ixia Extends Wi-Fi Testing Product
Calabasas-based network testing equipment and software firm Ixia announced this week that it has launched a new effort with its Wi-Fi testing product, specifically aimed at the health care market. The firm said it has expand its Wi-Fi testing product, IxVeriWave, to specifically test for critical applications running on Wi-Fi networks. Vitesse Debuts New Gigabit Ethernet Cores
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor, the developer of packet processing and networking chips, said this week that it has debuted a new set of Gigabit Ethernet (GE) IP cores. The firm said the cores allow customers to integrate Gigabit switch functionality into Ethernet ICs. PURE Bioscience Expands Board
San Diego-based PURE Bioscience, which develops antimicrobial products, said earlier this week that it has named Dave Pfanzelter to its board of directors. Pfanzelter was previously a Senior Vice President at Kellogg Company, and also served at Oscar Mayer Foods and Keebler. The firm said that while at Kellogg, he represented representing the combined manufactured brands of Oscar Mayer, General Foods and Kraft Foods. Receptos Names CFO
San Diego-based Receptos, a developer of treatments for immune and metabolic disease, said this week that it has named Graham Cooper as its Chief Financial Officer. Cooper has previously served as CFO of Geron Corporation and Orexigen Therapeutics. Receptos said that Cooper was SVP and CFO of Orexigen, through $300M in funding, including an $80M IPO. He also has served at Deutsche Bank and Deloitte & Touche.
