GumGum Names CRO
Los Angeles-based advertising technolog provider GumGum said this week that it has appointed a new, Chief Revenue Officer, as the company continues to build out its management team. The company--which provides technology which embeds advertising within images--said Mike Rosner, former VP of Sales North America at MediaMind, has been appointed to the Chief Revenue Officer position. Two Local Teams Compete For $2M Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE

Nasty Gal In Major Layoffs
Los Angeles-based Nasty Gal, the online women's wear retailer led by Sophia Amoruso, has reportedly laid off 10 percent of its staff, or over 20 employees, according to fashion industry reports. Nasty Gal said in a statement that the moves are part of a move to "strategically re-organize" its business.

Cynvenio Launches New Tumor Genomics Product
Westlake Villlage-based Cynvenio Biosystems said yesterday that it has launched a new program, aimed at sequencing patient tumors from whole blood. The new program is aimed at cancer research centers, and allows those centers to analyze the genome profile of cancer tumors, based on whole blood samples.
