Avelas Biosciences Finds $7.4M
San Diego-based Avelas Biosciences, which is developing cell penetrating peptides to light up cancerous tissue in patients during surgery, has raised $7.4M in a Series B funding. The second tranche of the company's Series B came from investors Avalon Ventures, Torrey Pines Investment and WuXi PharmaTech Investments. The technology behind the Avelas product is based on research conducted at UC San Diego.

Tinder Raising Big Round, Says Report
Los Angeles-based mobile dating app developer Tinder is in the midst of raising a big round of funding, according to an unconfirmed report today. The report--from TechCrunch--says the deal values Tinder at between $750M and $1 billion. Amount of the fundraising was not announced, and TechCrunch says the funding may fall through anyway due to the complicated ownership structure of Tinder. Tinder was incubated and is currently owned by IAC.

Telogis Finds New Funding
Aliso Viejo-based Telogis, the developer of route planning and fleet management software led by David Cozzens, said today that it has raised a strategic investment round. The funding came from Fontinalis Partners, the venture capital investment firm founded by WIlliam Clay Ford, Jr. Financial details of the investment were not disclosed. Telogis has previously raised funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. The firm raised a big $93M funding round from KPCB back in October of last year.

Activision Racks Up $500M In Sales Of Destiny
Santa Monica-based videogame publisher Activision Publishing reports that it sold more than $500M of its latest title, Destiny, as of day one. Activision claimed that the numbers make Destiny the "most successful new video game franchise launch of all time." Activision said the numbers include retail and first party orders worldwide. Destiny was developed by game studio Bungie.

Microsemi Buys Centellax
Aliso Viejo-based Microsemi, the mixed signal semiconductor developer, said this morning that it has agreed to acquire Centellax, a developer of high speed, analog and RF semiconductors for the optical communications and Ethernet market. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Microsemi explained that the move will help it expand its communication product offerings. Microsemi said the deal will not have a material effect on either its revenues or expenses. Centellax was advised by Stifel (More info...)

PCM Powers Wi-Fi For Cincinnati Bengals
El Segundo-based technology provider PCM reports this morning that it is providing the high density, Wi-Fi products for Paul Brown Stadium, the home of the Cincinnati Bengals. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. PCM said it was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals to install the Wi-Fi network, based on equipment from Extreme Networks. PCM says it has also installed wireless systems at LP Field for the Tennessee Titans and Lincoln Financial Field for the Philadelphia Eagles, also in conj (More info...)

SDGE: More Than 10,000 EVs On Road In San Diego
San Diego now has more than 10,000 electric vehicles on the road, according to San Diego Gas & Electric. According to SDGE, those vehicles were all sold or leased in its territory--covering San Diego and southern Orange County--since December of 2010. The numbers come from the California Plug-In Electric Vehicle Collaborative, which also said that there were more than 100,000 plug-in car sales statewide.
