Payoff.com Gets $12M From Bond Guru
Costa Mesa-based Payoff.com, which operates a peer-to-peer, lending site led by Scott Saunders--and whose Chief Scientist is Galen Buckwalter, who was the Chief Scientific Officer at eHarmony--has raised $12M in a funding effort. The funding was led by Mohamed El-Erian, the finance guru who was at Pacific Investment Management Co. Other details on the funding have not yet been released.

Enrou Wins $400,000 From Forbes
Los Angeles-based Enrou, an online marketplace for fashion and lifestyle products which benefit causes such as education, entrepreneurship, the environment, empowerment of women, and youth, has scored a $400,000 prize from Forbes, as part of a competition from the magazine publisher. Enrou--led by Ann Wang--won over over a hundred other companies who had applied for the prize. Elon Musk Warns On Runaway Artificial Intelligence

D-Link Dangles Free Wi-Fi Cameras To The Haunted

TVC Portfolio Company Limeade Gets $25M More
Limeade, a developer of software which helps employers improve the health of their employees, has raised a big, $25M funding round, the company said this morning. Limeade is backed by San Diego-based private equity investor TVC Capital. The new funding round was led by Oak/FT Partners. TVC Capital also participated in the new funding. Limeade is based in Seattle. TVC Capital's investment in Limeade is overseen by Stephen Hamerslag.

International Rectifier Gets Nod On Infineon Buy
El Segundo-based International Rectifier announced this morning that it has gotten a federal nod on the $3 billion acquisition of the company by Infineon. IR said that the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 expired at midnight on Friday. Infineon said in August that it would pay $40 in cash per share for International Rectifier. IR develops power conversion semiconductors.

Apple Opens TestFlight Beta
Apple said late last week that it has expanded access to TestFlight, the app beta testing platform, letting developers invite up to 1,000 testers to beta test their iOS apps. Apple's TestFlight service comes courtesy the acquisition earlier this year of Los Angeles-based Burstly, which was venture backed by Upfront Ventures, Rincon Venture Partners, SoftBank Capital, and Founder Collective. Local Corporation Links With Search Fraud Detection Firm
Irvine-based local search and advertising technology developer Local Corporation announced today that it has tied with search fraud detection company Fraudlogix, to help improve traffic quality for display ads on its network. Financial details of the link were not disclosed. Local Corporation said it is engaging Fraudlogix in order to protect its advertisers from fraud, and also meet IAB requirements on helping to eliminate fraudulent traffic and malware.

Kareo Gets $15M Debt Funding
Irvine-based Kareo, which provides cloud-based, medical office software, said Friday that it has raised $15M in a mezzanine debt funding round. The funding came from Escalate Capital Partners. The company said the new funding brings its total raised to $47M in 2014. Terms of the new funding were not announced. Kareo, which is led by Dan Rodrigues and which targets small medical practices, said the new funding goes towards expanding its reach and development of its technology.

Maxwell Technologies Ties With Corning On Ultracapacitors
San Diego-based Maxwell Technologies said Friday that it is in a joint development agreement with Corning Incorporated, to work together on ultracapacitor technologies. OncoSec Medical Finds SBIR Funding
San Diego-based OncoSec Medical, which is developing DNA-based intratumoral cancer immunotherapies, said this morning that it has received a Phase I, Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant from the National Institute of Health (NIH). The SBIR award is worth $163,000, and will go towards the evaluation and development of novel electroporation technologies. OncoSec said the award came in conjunction with Old Dominion University.
