Surf Air Contemplates Waitlisting New Members
Santa Monica-based Surf Air says it might put a new waitlist into effect on April 1st--due to overpopularity of some of its routes--according to emails being sent to possible customers of the firm. According to those emails, prospective members of the membership-based airlines in Carlsbad, Santa Barbara, and other destinations may be put on a wait list. Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist Stevens Gives $50M To USC For Brain Research
Mark Stevens--who made his name as a venture capitalist at Sequoia Capital--along with his wife Mary, have given $50M in a gift to the University of Southern California, to go towards an institute focused on brain rsearch. According to USC this morning, the $50M gift will go to endow the USC Mark and Mary Stevens Neuroimaging and Informatics Institute, which is focused on preventions and cures for brain injury and disease, including Alzheimer's, schizophrenia and traumatic brain injury. Harvest.ai Gets $2.3M For Data Loss Prevention Software
San Diego-based Harvest.ai, a startup which says it was created by former, NSA field operation team members, has raised $2.3M in a seed funding. Harvest.ai said it is developing artificial intelligence-based, data loss prevention software, which helps prevent data breaches from organizations. The funding round came from Trinity Ventures. ParkMe Expands Data In Hollywood, Venice
Santa Monica-based parking information provider ParkMe said Tuesday that it has expanded the depth of its information in the Los Angeles area, by adding parking information in Hollywood and Venice. According to ParkMe, the expansion comes due to a collaboration with Xerox, through access to Xerox sensor data from the Los Angeles Department of Transportaiton's LA Express Park program. Ingram Micro Names HR VP
Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro said Tuesday that it has named Scott D. Sherman as the company's new Executive Vice President, Human Resources. Sherman was previously at Allergan, and also had served at Medtronic and Exxon. Sherman replaces Lynn Jolliffe, who is retiring from Ingram Micro after 15 years. Ingram Micro is a major distributor of technology products.

Broadcom Gets Set Top Box Win In China
Irvine-based semiconductor maker Broadcom reports a win this morning of its Ultra HD systems-on-a-chip (SOC) products in China, as part of a set top box deployment. Broadcom said that Inspur Group, which is the primary systems integrator for Shandong Cable Network, has selects its SoCs for a new line of 4Kp60 cable set-top-boxes. Financial impact of the win and expected shipment volumes were not announced. The companies said the deployment will be the first 4Kp60 STB based on Broadcom's SoC. 4kp (More info...)

MarketShare, J.D. Power In Auto Analytics Alliance
Los Angeles-based marketing analytics software provider MarketShare, and marketing information and survey company J.D. Power said they are in a new, strategic alliance. According to the companies, the new alliance will provide auto manufacturers with better analytics, by tying automotive retail sales, pricing and incentive reports from J.D. Power with MarketShare's digital marketing analytics tools. Financial details of the strategic alliance were not announced.
