Kumba Health Launches New Subscription Service
Los Angeles-based Kumba Health says it has launched a new, subscription service, which helps consumers get pricing transparency from local doctors on their procedures. Kumba Health says it charges $9.99 a month, or $99 per year for the service, which helps consumers get direct access to lower prices on services compared with insurance-based health services. The company is aiming at the direct-pay part of the market, where people with high deductible insurance plans shop for their own healthcare (More info...)

Microsemi Completes $300M Sale Of Board, Packaging Business To Mercury Systems
Aliso Viejo-based Microsemi Corporation said today that it has completed its ale of its board level systems and packaging business, to Mercury Systems, in a deal worth $300M in cash. The deal had been announced earlier. Microsemi said the cash from the sale will be used to pay down debt and reduce its debt ratio.

Three LA Organizations Score Funding From Google For CS Education
Three, local Los Angeles organizations -- DIY Girls, LA Maker Space, and Teens Exploring Technology (TXT), have scored nonprofit funding from Google, as part of the 2016 Google RISE Awards, according to the groups. All three groups help increase access to computer science (CS) for Los Angeles kis and youth. The three are among only 28 organizations, spread across 16 countries, to receive the prestigious award. Atari's Nolan Bushnell Takes On Mobile Games
Nolan Bushnell, the Los Angeles-based serial entrepreneur who founded Atari, Chuck E. Cheese, uWink, and a number of other companies, has set his sights on the mobile gaming business, and has launched a new mobile game company. Qualcomm Adds Machine Learning SDK To Snapdragon
San Diego-based Qualcomm says that it is adding machine leaning features -- part of the core of developing artificial intelligence software -- to its Snapdraon processors, through a new SDK. According to Qualcomm, it has rolled out a deep learning software development kit (SDK), which will run on its Snapdragon 820 processors, which will allow its users to developing deep learning devices. Los Angeles-based eHarmony has named a new VP to head up its new job matching service, Elevated Careers, according to the company. eHarmony says it has promoted Dan Erickson to Vice President, ElevatedCareers, after he helped spearhead the development of the new platform for the company. iQor Plans To Hire 150 In Simi
iQor, a provider of outsourced customer service and support, said Friday that it is planning to hire over 150 people in Simi Valley, as part of a major expansion. According to iQor, it is hoping to staff up its contact center in Simi Valley for a "major media client". iQor--which is based in St. Petersberg, Florida--has over 35,000 employees across 18 countries offering up outsource business services.
