Mitu, Creator Up Team On Boot Camp, Accelerator For Creators
Los Angeles-based content network Mitu, and online film school CreatorUp is launching a new boot camp and startup accelerator specifically for creators. According to the two, the mitu Digital Bootcamp will run from June 17th to July 22nd, and is aimed at finding Latino millennials (age 18-24) who can help it create content. 3D Robotics Raises $27M In Ongoing Round
Unmanned aerial vehicle maker 3D Robotics, which was started in San Diego but now is based in Berkeley, has raised nearly $27M as part of what looks to be an ongoing funding round. According to a regulatory filing by the company, the drone maker has raised $26,699,526 out of a target of $45M, in a round which kicked off on May 21st. TigerText In Healthcare Smartphone Integration Deal
Santa Monica-based TigerText, which develops secure messaging software which is used in the healthcare industry, said this morning that it is working with Honeywell on a deal which will integrate the company's apps with the Honeywell Dolphin CT50h smartphone. Honeywell's CT50h is specifically designed for healthcare applications, and integrates standard smartphone functions with a barcode scanner for scanning in patient information and data. Nant Health Surges In IPO
Culver City-based NantHealth, one of the companies spawned out of billionair Patrick Soon-Shiong's NantWorks incubator, was up more than 34 percent in morning trading, after the company had its IPO debut today. The company--now trading as NH on the NASDAQ Global Market--sold 6.5 million shares at $14.00 per share last night, and was trading around $18.87 this morning, having jumped as high as $21.00 earlier in the day. Loot Crate Raises $18.5M, Tops $100M In Sales
Los Angeles-based Loot Crate announced this morning that it has raised $18.5M in a Series A funding round, for the company's subscription, "fan boxes"--which feature custom, tailored mystery boxes delivered to fans from their favorite entertainment and pop culture brands, every month. Accurate Background Snags Box.com VP
Irvine-based Accurate Background, a developer of automated, workforce screening tools, said that it has hired on former Box.com executive Scott Hebert as Chief Revenue Officer. Hebert was most recently VP of Industry Vertical Sales at Box.com, and previously served at VP of Western U.S. Sales at Salesforce.com for nine years; he also has served at IBM. Edmunds.com, Oracle Link On Data Sharing Deal
Santa Monica-based Edmunds.com is making its data assets--including information on how users are shopping, researching, and pricing specific makes models, years, and types of vehicles--through a deal with Oracle, the two said this morning. According to Edmunds.com, the exclusive deal puts its ata assets on the Oracle Data Cloud, which allows marketers to access that information for their own use. Carrick Capital Partners Taps Accenture Vet As Operating Partner
Newport Beach- and San Francisco-based investment firm Carrick Capital Partners has named Mike Salvino as Operating Partner at the company, according to the company. Salvino was most recently Group Chief Executive of Accenture Operations, overseeing more than $7 billion in annual net revenues and 100,000 people globally, according to the company. Salvino spent 22 years at Accenture.
