According to NASA, the second, post-certification mission by SpaceX will deliver a human crew to the ISS, part of a slate of missions designed to again provide U.S. capability to launch humans to space. Soylent Co-Founder Faces Criminal Charges Over Derelict Cargo ContainerThe co-founder of Los Angeles-based Soylent, which is developing a food replacement drink intended to completely replace the need for eating, has been criminally charged by the Los Angeles City Attorney. SilVR Thread, Lionsgate Roll Out New VR TitleLos Angeles-based virtual reality developer SilVR Thread, and Lionsgate said today that they have rolled out a new, virtual reality title, in tandem with Lionsgate's new suspense thriller NERVE. According to the firms, they have rolled out a new, first person, virtual reality experience which lets users experience several "dares" from the film. Esri Wins Customer In MichiganRedland-based GIS and mapping software maker Esri has scored a win with the state of Michigan, saying on Thursday that the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget (DTMB) has selected the company to host 25 terabytes of data for the orthophotography and LiDAR data for the state. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. Esri said that data is used for more than 60 statewide mapping datasets built on its ArcGIS platform. Illumina Names Apple VP To BoardSan Diego-based life sciences equipment maker Illumina has added Apple's Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing, Philip W. HyperLoop One Opens Manufacturing Plant In Las VegasLos Angeles-based HyperLoop One, the HyperLoop transportation development company which is currently embroiled in a messy lawsuit between its founders, said earlier this week that it has opened up its first manufacturing plant, in North Las Vegas.
