SpaceX Launch May Have Slipped To Monday
The launch of a Falcon 9 rocket at Vandenberg Air Force Base, which has been announced for Sunday, may have slipped to Monday, according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune. The local paper said that official notices warning boaters and pilots of the upcoming launch has been revised to Monday, January 9th, rather than a 10:28 a.m. Sunday departure time which had been provided earlier to the public. Tribogenics Gets Distribution Partner In Southeast Asia
Los Angeles-based Tribogenics, the developer of handheld, X-ray equipment initially being targeted for metal analysis, said late Thursday that it has signed up a distribution partner in Southeast Asia. Tribogenics said it has signed up HORIBA Scientific to distribute its new Watson hand-held XRF metal analyzers throughout Southeast Asia. Illumina Spinout Plans To Raise $1 Billion In Series B
San Diego-based life sciences equipment maker Illumina says that its cancer detection spinout, GRAIL, is now expecting to raise approximately $1 billion in its Series B funding. GRAIL, which was founded by Illumina, is developing blood tests for early stage cancer detection. Names of the investors in the $1 billion funding round were not announced. MaxLinear Selected For Set Top Box
Carlsbad-based radio frequency and mixed signal integrated circuit (IC) developer MaxLinear says that one of its chips has been selected for design into a set-top-box. The company said its MxL603 global terrestrial tuner--used for decoding over-the-air HDTV--is being incorporated into Air HDTV, a product being developed by Wireless Innovation Group. DTS Gets Headphone:X Win With LG
Calabasas-based audio processing technology developer DTS announced this morning that its DTS Headphone:X technology has been integrated into several new notebook PCs from LG. According to DTS, the technology will be designed into the LG Gram series models 13Z970, 14Z970, 15Z970 and 15U470, the first notebook PCS to integrate the technology. Terms of the technology licensing deal were not announced. DTS Headphone:X provides a very realistic recreation of sound sources for headphone listeners.
