Snap Opens Bricks And Mortar Spectacles Shop In Venice
Los Angeles-based Snap, Inc. has opened up its second, bricks-and-mortar store selling its Spectacles sunglasses, just down the street from its Venice headquarters. The store opened at 1pm on Thursday, closing "at Sunset", with regular hours of 11am to Sunset every day. Snap's Spectacles allow Snapchat users to record short snippets of video, and automatically post them to their account. The company has one other, bricks-and-mortar location, in New York City. AeroVironment Wins EV Charger Deal with Volvo
Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment has been selected by auto manufacturer Volvo Cars, to develop a custom electric vehicle (EV) charging station, the company announced on Thursday. According to AeroVironment, it will develop a custom, global EV charging station for Volvo, to support Volvo's customers in Europe, China, and North America. LA's Olympic Effort Seeks To Tap Into City's Technology Sector To Reach Youth

Local Roots Shows Off Mobile, Indoor Farming Technology
Los Angeles-based Local Roots Farms, a startup located at the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI), says it is showing off a traveling, indoor farm at SXSW, which showcases its hydroponic technology. Local Roots said its farm is built inside a 40 foot shipping container, which is designed to grow leafy greens equal to five acres of land, with up to 99 percent less water than conventional agriculture, and without the use of pesticides and herbicides. Daylight Solutions Acquired For $150M
San Diego-based Daylight Solutions, a developer of lasers used in scientific research, life sciences, industrial process control, and defense, has been acquired for $150M by Leonardo S.p.A., the companies announced this morning. According to the two, Leonardo S.p.A. is acquiring Daylight through its U.S. subsidiary, Leonardo DRS, and will become one of eight lines of business run by Leonardo DRS.
