Flyr Launches Interactive Video Sharing App With $5M In Funding
Los Angeles-based Flyr, a new startup founded by Hassan Uriostegui and Brett O'Brien, the serial entrepreneur behind Viddy and Xdrive, said today that it has launched a new app which lets users create interactive, shareable videos. The startup--which says it is backed by $5M in angel funding--says its app algorithmically generates videos using photos, videos, and GIFs, in only seconds. SpaceX Plans Another Launch Tonight
Hawthorne-based SpaceX is getting set for yet another launch of one of its Falcon rockets, this time a satellite launch for EchoStar. According to SpaceX, it is targeting the launch of the EchoStar XXIII from NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida tonight, at 1:34 a.m. EDT. The launch is the second from Kennedy Space Center. Alteryx Sets Estimated IPO Range
Irvine-based Alteryx, the developer of data analytics software led by Dean Stoeker, has set its estimated IPO range. The company says it expects its IPO price to be between $12.00 and $14.00 per share. The company has filed to trade as AXY on the New York Stock Exchange. The IPO is being underwritten by Goldman, Sachs & Co., J.P. HyperX Ships New Gaming Headset
Fountain Valley-based HyperX, the gaming division of Kingston Technology, announced a new gaming headset this morning, the HyperX Cloud Revolver S. The company said the new headphone includes Dolby 7.1 Surround Sound, a USB audio dongle, and a noise cancelling microphone, and specifically is aimed at use by professional gamers and eSports teams. Qualcomm Backs Borqs International
Beijing- and Bangalore-based Borqs International Holdings, a developer of Android devices, announced this morning that it has receive a strategic investment from San Diego-based Qualcomm Ventures. Size of the funding was not announced. According to Borqs, Qualcomm joins existing investors Intel Capital, Norwest Venture Partners, SK Telecom China Fund, Keytone Ventures and GSR Ventures in backing the company. WebPurify Launches Image Moderation Service
Los Angeles-based WebPurify, which provides online content moderation services, said it has launched a new, automated image moderation service to help screen user generated content for nudity. Auxilio Wins $12.5M Contract
Mission Viejo-based Auxilio, a provider of document workflow and IT security services for the healthcare industry, announced a $12.5M contract on Friday. The five year contract came with an un-named, teaching hospital located in the Central U.S. Auxilio said it will deliver a managed print service for that hospital.

BIOLASE Names Sales VP
Irvine-based dental laser maker BIOLASE announced today that it has named James (Jim) D. Surek as its new Vice President of Sales for the Americas.
