Envy Launches Tinder For Products, Services
San Diego-based startup Envy has launched a new, visual search engine, which takes Tinder's swipe left and swipe right approach to the world, to reviewing products and services. The startup, founded by Jennifer Cosco and Christopher Nebel, says that its mobile app lets users review products and services by simply swiping right if they love it, and left if they don't. ObEN Gets Backing From SoftBank Ventures Korea
Pasadena-based ObEN, which develops virtual reality avatar technology, has scored funding from SoftBank Ventures Korea, SoftBank said this morning. Size of the investment was not announced. SoftBank Ventures Korea said the investment came via its SB Next Media Innovation Fund. ObEn, led by Nikhil Jain, develops software which allows users to take a selfie and voice recording, and turns that into a photo-realistic, virtual reality version of a human. Watertower Ventures Raises $5M Investment Fund
Los Angeles-based Watertower Ventures has raised a new, $5M investment fund, which will focus on companies in the Internet infrastructure, next-generation e-commerce, digital media, gaming, augmented reality and artificial intelligenec, and consumer Internet areas. SpaceX Delays EchoStar Satellite Launch
Hawthorne-based SpaceX has delayed its launch of the EchoStar XXIII communications satellite, due to high winds, the company said late Monday evening, and is now working towards a new launch window. SpaceX called off the launch of its Falcon 9 carrying the EchoStar XIII at 10:36 P.M. PST. The launch this time is from Launch Complex 39A at NASA Kennedy Space Center in Florida. SpaceX's next launch window is on Thursday, at 10:35 P.M. PST.

JetPack Aviation Links With Georgia Tech
Van Nuys-based JetPack Aviation, a developer of commercially available "jet packs" for sending people into the air, said today that it has signed an agreement with Georgia Tech Research Institute. According to the company, the two will merge JetPack's technology with a similar subsystem bilt by Georgia Tech, to address military applications. Ixia Wins Barefoot Networks
Calabasas-based Ixia reports a win with Barefoot Networks this morning, saying that the network equipment maker has chosen its 100 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) test products. Barefoot Networks is using Ixia's equipment for testing its Tofino switches. Financial impact of the customer win was not announced. Ixia said Barefoot is using its equipment to recreate real-life network traffic patterns and load to make sure their switches can perform and scale as designed.
