Watch SpaceX's Falcon Heavy Side Booster In Test Firing
Hawthorne-based SpaceX showed off a static fire test on a side booster rocket for its Falcon Heavy last week, saying that theFalcon Heavy will be using a booster that launched its Thaicom 8 mission into space. The test firing, at SpaceX's test labs in McGregor, Texas, are part of an effort by SpaceX to launch its first Falcon Heavy rocket sometime this year. Qualcomm To Pay $940M To BlackBerry Limited
San Diego-based Qualcomm has agreed to pay $940M to BlackBerry Limited, in a conclusion of an arbitration case, over overpayment of royalties by BlackBerry to Qualcomm, BlackBerry said on Friday. The agreement comes after an arbitration decision made on April 12th. According to BlackBerry, Qualcomm will pay the full amount of the final award on or before May 31, 2017. Yardi Launches New SEO/SEM Marketing Service
Santa Barbara-based Yardi, the developer of property management software, has launched a new property marketing service, which includes search engine optimization (SEO), search engine marketing (SEM), and enhanced online listings on Yardi's RENTCafe service. According to Yardi, the new RENTCafe Reach residential property management service is designed to attract prospects to multifamily properties. Pricing on the new service was not announced.

LogicMonitor Names Sales VP
Santa Barbara-based LogicMonitor said Thursday that it has named Michael Tarbet as its new Vice President of Sales. Tarbet previously served at such companies as UnboundID, RightNow Technologies, and Oracle. LogicMonitor is a developer of cloud-based, performance monitoring software for IT infrastructure. The company is backed by Providence Equity Partners.

The Rogue Initiative Raises Series A Funding
Hollywood-based The Rogue Initiative, a new virtual reality content and production studio, said it has raised a Series A funding round. The company did not say how much was raised, only that it was a "seven figure" amount. The funding came from CBT Capital Limited, a Chinese media fund. Tensorcom Gets Wi-Fi Alliance Certification
San Diego-based Tensorcom, a developer of ultra low power 802.11ad WiGig semiconductors--which is backed by NantWorks and LA biotech billionaire Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong--said this week that it has certified its products under the Wi-Fi CERTIFIED WiGig certification.
