Fair Raises $16M, Launches Online Car Shopping, Financing App
Santa Monica-based Fair, a startup offering up a mobile app which lets users find, purchase, and finance an automobile--started by automotive startup veteran Scott Painter--has raised $16M and launched its services. According to Fair, its $16M Series Seed funding round was led by Javelin Venture Partners, and also included Charles River Ventures, Foundation Capital, Sherpa Capital, along with Moonshots Capital and others. SpaceX Successfully Launches Air Force Mission From Florida
Hawthorne-based SpaceX successfully launched a secretive, U.S. Air Force space plane into orbit on Thursday morning--and also successfully landed the first stage of the Falcon 9 used in the launch. SpaceX put the USAF's X-37B space plane--developed by Boeing--into space from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, ahead of what is expected to be rough weather as Hurricane Irma approaches Florida. Amazon Sets Bold Plan For Second Headquarters: Is SoCal A Possibility?
E-commerce giant Amazon.com announced this morning a bold plan to establish a second, headquarters city, which it says would be home to "Amazon HQ2"--where the company could hire as many as 50,000 employees, and where it would invest over $5 billion in construction. RealtyMogul Launches Second REIT
Los Angeles-based RealtyMogul, the online commercial real estate investing marketplace led by Jilliene Helman, said this morning that it has launched the company's second, real estate investment trust. RealtyMogul said its new MogulREIT II real estate investment trust will invest in multifamily apartment communities across the United States. The company said the new REIT comes as a result of response to its first REIT, and the popularity of multifamily investments with its customers.

XAP Wins College System In Virginia
Culver City-based XAP Corporation, which develops career planning, college, and K-12 software, said this week that it has been selected by the Virginia Community College System (VCCS), for a new online admissions and application system. Financial details of the win were not announced. XAP said the system will simplify and streamline the enrollment process for prospective students who apply to any of the state's 23 community colleges.
