Forget That Marijuana Drone Delivery, Says California
Thinking of pitching local venture capitalists with your great idea for marijuana delivery by drone? Well, better think again. The State of California just released some proposed rules for allowable recreational use of marijuana starting in January, which specifically prohibits delivery of marijuana by "aircraft, watercraft, rail, drones, human-powered vehicles or unmanned vehicles." AT&T Backs LA Nonprofit's Hurricane Irma Relief Efforts
AT&T, which has been ramping its corporate presence in the Los Angeles area, says it is donating $1M to a Los Angeles nonprofit, Team Rubicon, to help with Hurricane Irma relief efforts. Team Rubicon connects military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response team. AT&T said it would match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $1 million to Team Rubicon. CalAmp Extends In Latin America
Irvine-based telematics products developer CalAmp said today that it is expanding its efforts in Latin America, after it signed a deal with a company in Argentina to offer up its connected car offerings in Latin America. CalAmp said that Car Security, a LoJack licensee in Argentina, has will offer up its vehicle risk management services for both insurance companies and consumers in Argentina, Chile, and Uruguay. Western Digital Rolls Out 12TB Enterprise Hard Drives
Irvine-based storage products maker Western Digital said today that it has expanded its line of WD Gold hard drives, to include a new, 12TB hard drive, specifically for Big Data applications, enterprise, and cloud applications. According to WD, the new hard drives have a 2.5 million hour MTBF (mean time between failures), which it says is among the highest in its hard drive portfolio. TP-Link Rolls Out Wi-Fi Camera
Brea-based networking and consumer electronics manufacturer TP-Link said today that it has rolled out a new addition to its smart home line of products, a new 1080p, "smart" Wi-Fi camera. According to TP-Link, its new KC120 Kasa Cam is aimed at helping consumers monitor and protect their home, andosts $129.99. The new camera is TP-Link's first camera for the smart home market, and features two way audio and night vision, among other features.

ERP Power Names European VP
Moorpark-based LED driver manufacturer ERP Power said on Monday that it has named Harald Thomas as the company's new European Vice President of Sales. The company, which manufactures the electronics used to power LED lighting, said Thomas is based in Munich, Germany, and previously served at CREE and Arrow; ERP Power said Thomas has more than 20 years of experience in the power electronics industry.
